Mummified Egyptian women preserved the fetus for more than 2000 years due to an unusual decomposition process.
The warsaw mummy project published the paper in April 2021, the papers revealed the first known case of an ancient Egyptian mummy. Now thw]e mummy was held on national museum in warsaw, before this identification thought as remains of the priest Hor-Djehuti, until it's as an embalmed woman
Then the closer examination of the mummy using a tomographic image to identify the age between the 20-30 years old when she died and also 26th to 30th week of her pregnancy.
Components to use mummified ;
- Natron covered the dry body natron is a naturally occurring.
- A mixture of sodium carbonate decahydrate.
- 17% sodium bicarbonate.
- Small quantities of sodium chloride.
- Sodium sulfate.
During this process, the fetus was present inside of the uterus and essentially change the status of an acidic environment that looks like a pickle. And formic acid and other compounds are changed the ph status inside of women's bodies.
From this process environmental as a change to alkaline to acidic caused by the leaching for all minerals from the fetal bone, which began to dry out and mineralize. According to the anthropologist, the process of Egyptian mummification from a chemical point of view is the process of mineralization of tissues that can survive for millennia.
Ożarek-Szilke said: “These two processes explain to us why you hardly see the bones of the fetus in CT scans. You can see, for example, hands or afoot, but these are not bones, but dried tissues. The skull, which develops the fastest and is the most mineralized has been partially preserved.”
